The Gathering of Tweakers iRacing community will once again organize a weekly Tuesday evening tournament in Season 4. Since the tournament was rather successful in Season 3 with a large participation in most races and the VIR90 race as a great season finale, we are sure that Season 4 will be just as exciting.

As usual, the focus of the tournament races is to have fun. Practice sessions will be used to share setups and driving tips to ensure that everyone has the best chance of having a great race. The tournament races will be held each week on Tuesday evening (race start typically between 20:00 and 20:30 GMT), with the exception of christmas and newyears, in which case the race is on thursday. We came up with another exciting schedule with great variation between cars and tracks, including classic and more exotic combo’s that are sure to be a lot of fun. The races are typically about 40 minutes long, and we keep them interesting by adding some pit stops and (new to this season) even some 2-heat races (with reversed grids in heat 2).

Points
Points scored for finishing position in a single-heat race (all except race 2, 4, and 6):
25, 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

For a 2-heat race, the first heat scores slightly more points than the second heat:
Heat 1: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 1
Heat 2: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

There will be 4 drop weeks.
You must complete at least 80% of the winner’s laps in order to be eligible for these finishing position points.

Finally, you can receive bonus points for the following achievements:
– Pole position: 1 point
– Fastest lap in the race (road only): 1 point
– Most laps in the lead (oval only): 1 point
– Least amount of incidents: 2 points (only when minimum 80% race distance completed)

For 2-heat races, the following rules apply:
– Pole position bonus point is only given in the first race
– Fastest lap bonus point is counted by using the overall fastest lap led in both sessions (only 1 point per both heats)
– Most laps led bonus point is counted by the sum of laps led in both heats (only 1 point per both heats)
– Least incidents bonus points is given for the lowest sum of incidents of both heats (inc heat1 + inc heat 2), but you are only eligible if you completed 80% of both heats.

Signups & registration
The sessions will be hosted as part of our Gathering of Tweakers league, so you must be a member of the league to join the sessions. The only exception is the 2-heat races, which will be hosted as tournament sessions (but you must still be a member of the league to join those).

Beside the league, we will ask soon that you register for an account on our central tournament website. The website can be found here:

We ask that you take a minute and create an account (if you haven’t already), so that you can register for each race. Registering is mainly for an indication of how many people will join the race, you are still able to join the session if you forgot to register (as long as you are a league member), but please try to register as much as possible so we get a good indication .

The website will also keep track of the tournament standings and it will automatically use the race results to determine the standings and bonus points. The iRacing league website will not show any points because it is not compatible with 2-heat races and bonus points.

As a final note, even though the races are meant as fun races, accidents are sometimes unavoidable. We reserve the right to hand out appropriate penalties after some consideration, but we hope we won’t need it. Furthermore, clearly dangerous drivers (people joining in the last second and unable to keep the car on track) may find themselves removed from the session – please respect the race of others and only join if you have the intention of having a fun race. We don’t need crash fests.
